Abstract
For the first time the presence of the genre Tytthodiscus is pointed out in Spain. It is represented by T. catalaunensis, a new specie characterized by a thin wall, surface smooth or almost smooth and cilindrical elements. Its morphology is intermediate between T. vanderhammeni Solé de Porta and T. mecsekensis Nagy. The holotype procede from the "Cementerio de Ciurana" section (Gerona) and it has a Middle Pliocene age. Other specimens come from the "Ermita de Bará" section (Tarragona), its age corresponds to Upper Tortonian.
