Estudio mineralógico de la variscita de Palazuelo de las Cuevas, Zamora (España)

Abstract

Deposits of variscite, the first of their kind to be found in Spain, crop out in the western part of Zamora province, between Pobladura de Aliste and Carbajales de Alba. This paper describes the geological features of the deposits and the results of a mineralogical study of the variscite : physical and optical properties, X-ray, chemical analysis, G.T.A. and D.T.A. An opinion about the genesis and gemmological possibilities is given.
