A Dark Explanation – Ten Words for an Infinite Subject –

Abstract

To what degree can it be inherent for the quality of a literary text the fact of involving the evil factor within its thematic development? This the question that poses the present paper by Alberto Paredes. In order to consider it, he evokes his relationship with two mayor figures (Álvaro Mutis and Gabriel García Márquez), then he examines evil’s presence in several works. The central hypothesis is that those literary works which deepen in this conflict can achieve an exceptional insight on basic human questions.
