Author Guidelines
1616: Anuario de Literatura Comparada (1616: Annual Journal of Comparative Literature), a journal published annually by the Spanish Society of General and Comparative Literature, is a means of expression devoted to studies in this area, the only limitation being that manuscripts must be approved by the Editorial Board for publication. While respecting the intellectual freedom of authors, the journal does not necessarily endorse the opinions expressed by them.
Original manuscripts formatted in Word for Windows should be sent to Secretaría de Redacción, Rosario López (rosario.lopez@uam.es). Articles must be written either in one of the official languages of Spain (Catalan, Spanish, Basque and Galician) or in one of those admitted by the International Association of Comparative Literature (English or French).
Manuscripts must be previously unpublished, have a maximum length of 66,000 characters, including spaces, in the case of articles, 33,000 in the case of notes and 13,500 for reviews. When calculating the length, please include any figures, graphs, maps, notes and bibliography. Figures, graphs, maps must be numbered with Arabic numbers and in order of appearance. Each of these elements should have a short title to define it and its source must be indicated.
Each submission must have a cover page indicating the title and subtitle (if any) in Spanish and English; the name and surname of the author(s); academic or professional information; complete postal address, phone number and e-mail address; and the date the article was completed. The author must also send a short 10 line abstract (max. 150 words) in Spanish and English and the descriptors or key words (max. 6) of the contents to facilitate its finding.
The font used must be 12 point Times New Roman, single spaced. Footnotes, in 10 point, should be numbered correlatively in Arabic numbers and with superscript in the text. Long quotations must be indented and in 11 point.
Bibliographical references for quotes in the text and in the bibliography section should follow either international standard ISO 690 or the Spanish standard UNE 50-104. Whenever possible they should include the elements listed below, if applicable, always using the typography described below (except for the square brackets):

The numbering of sections and sub-sections in the original manuscript should be done with Arabic numerals and should not be mixed with Roman numerals or letters. Each first level section can be sub-divided into successive levels numbered consecutively beginning with 1. Always place a full stop (period) between the numbers referring to the different sub-sections (E.g. 1.1.2.).
1616: Anuario de Literatura Comparada will acknowledge receipt of original manuscripts within a period of 30 days after reception and the Editorial Board will decide on publication within a period of six months.
Authors will receive one galley proof. The Editorial Board asks that no important variations be entered in the original text during correction of the proofs, because of the extra publishing costs incurred. Authors must correct and return the proofs within 15 days after receiving them.
Copyright belongs to 1616: Anuario de Literatura Comparada, and permission from the Editorial Board is needed for its partial or total reproduction, indicating the source in all cases.
