The Theban Stirrup-Jars and East Crete. Some Remarks
Abstract A few years ago, H. W. Catling and A. Millett published a detailed report on the analysis of the composition of clay samples from the inscribed stirrup jars found at Thebes in 1921, conducted with the purpose of establishing their provenance. Some archeologists found the results surprising and there has been a certain amount of criticism to which the two authors have answered in a convincing and conclusive way.
