Recent Developments in Mediterranean «Substrate» Studies
Abstract The Minoan civilisation, arising like Aphrodite from the sea to our startled eyes at the beginning of this century, continues to present us with many unsolved problems. In particular, to those who disbelieve in supernatural births, the search for a legitimate parentage is of the first importance. The archaeologist has no doubt much to contribute; if any of the current attempts to decipher Linear A should prove itself soundly based this could help even more.
