The «development»: debate about its conceiving by anthropology in third world countries

Abstract

The implementation of the Economic model for sustainable development has categorized its participant societies and territories according to the dichotomy developed – underdeveloped, framing the first world countries into the first category and the third world countries in the second one. In this way, the concept of Development is understood as the capacity to improve the general wellbeing of a determined group or society though its implementation in places such as Latin America, Asia or Africa, far from eradicate the poverty and social marginalization, has created the opposite effect. By the Seventies, the failure of those politics was already more evident, making social issues a very important aspect to be considered in the different projects with local communities as promoters of change and originating groups such as collectives, whose intention have been the improvement of their wellbeing becoming a very important part of progress itself.
