Ecclesiography: A Proposal of Methodological Recovery for the Study of the Evangelical Churches in Spain

Abstract

The analysis of the emerging evangelical congregations that are incorporated into the Spanish religious field as a result of the recent migratory waves requires the recovery and updating of methods that allow their effective approach. This article reveals how ethnographies need methodological tools for their completion, which allow the effective examination of the dynamics within the new type of religious movements. Therefore, it suggests the rescue, resizing and adoption of the instrument known as ecclesiography. This study explores the theoretical and practical advantages that could be derived from the application of this method in an effort to project integral investigations that contribute to the completion of the religious map of Spain, even allowing its replication in other geographical contexts.
