Guardado en el armario: prejuicios “inexistentes” revelados en autobiografía

Abstract

Porto Alegre, RS: Pragmatha.The book emGuardei no armário: a experiência de um jovem homossexual, negro e ex-evangélico na sétima maior cidade do mundo/em, an autobiography written by the author and designer Samuel Gomes, proves to be a necessary work not only because of its author (black, homosexual and coming from the poor suburbs of São Paulo) but also due to its content. The work is about different situations in life in which the writer suffered prejudice, sometimes veiled, and reveals a situation that many prefer to ignore: the one in which Brazil is a racist and prejudiced country. Because of that, and because it addresses a topical issue, this new author’s text is worthy of receiving attention and study.
