La imagen de la policía en la prensa, la literatura y el cine: análisis de su evolución en el modelo anglosajón
Resumen Las fuerzas de policía existen en todas las sociedades contemporáneas. Sin embargo, la policía no ha existido siempre, es una creación con unos doscientos años de existencia, que se basa en el consenso social para que los ciudadanos acepten limitaciones puntuales a favor de un bien mayor. Por lo tanto, el papel de la policía se basa en la aceptación social. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar la imagen que tienen los ciudadanos de la policía desde su creación, valorando en qué medida esa imagen refuerza el prestigio de los cuerpos policiales y la propensión de los ciudadanos a colaborar con ellos. Para ello analizamos su imagen en un recorrido histórico por los medios de comunicación, la literatura y el cine, para contrastar la opinión de los ciudadanos en los medios mencionados. Se hace especial hincapié en la figura del detective policial como paradigmática y se analizan las razones de su popularidad. El contexto en el que se desarrolla este trabajo es el de las sociedades y las policías anglosajonas, esencialmente en Gran Bretaña y Estados Unidos.
