What are they shouting about? The means and meanings of popular protest in contemporary Argentina

Abstract

Based on two cases studies, the 1996 «Pueblada» and the 1993 «Santiagazo», this paper examines the means and meanings of protest in contemporary Argentina. It pays particular attention to the «moral politics» of protesters as well as to their links with conventional ways of doing politics.
