Evaluación de la calidad de la atención farmacéutica a personas que viven con VIH en el Hospital Santiago Apóstol de Miranda de Ebro (marzo-junio 2023)

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the quality of pharmaceutical care for people with HIV attending the Pharmacy Service of the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Miranda de Ebro. Method: The evaluation was carried out based on the degree of compliance with quality indicators proposed by the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy. An initial evaluation was conducted in April 2023, followed by the identification of areas for improvement and the implementation of corrective actions between April and May 2023. A second evaluation was conducted in June 2023 to assess the impact of the improvements. Results: In the initial evaluation, 36 indicators were met (45.6%), and after the implementation of corrective measures, 52 indicators were met (65.8%) in the second evaluation. A significant improvement was observed in the compliance with key indicators compared to advanced ones, particularly in the “Pharmaceutical Care” dimension. However, some indicators related to “Leadership”, “Research”, and “Continuous Improvement” could not be met due to the hospital’s structural limitations. Conclusions: Pharmaceutical care improved significantly after implementing corrective actions, but barriers related to the hospital’s limited resources were identified. The importance of conducting periodic evaluations to continue improving the quality of care for people with HIV is emphasized.
