La UGT de Cataluña durante la Guerra Civil (1936-1939). «¿Un sindicat cara la guerra?»

Resumen

RESUMEN: A pesar de ser una organización catalana por nacimiento, la trayectoria de la UGT en Cataluña hasta la Guerra Civil fue la historia de un fracaso. No sería hasta la excepcional coyuntura bélica cuando, por primera vez en su historia, estuvo en condiciones de disputar a los anarcosindicalistas su tradicional hegemonía. Este artículo tiene por objetivo plantear los aspectos fundamentales de esta «nueva» UGT. Su génesis, sus graves problemas de consolidación y, una vez conseguida ésta, las enormes dificultades que tuvo para movilizar y dinamizar la organización de masas en la que se había convertido.ABSTRACT: Although the UGT was a trade union born in Barcelona, his trajectory from the beginning to the Spanish Civil War was the history of a failure. It was not till the exceptional moment of the war when, for first time in his history, could contend for the hegemony in Catalonia with the anarchists. This article has as a target show the most important aspects of this «new» catalan UGT. His origin, the strong problems of consolidations during 1936-7 and, after to reach it, the great difficulties to mobilize the mass organization that the trade union became.
