La imagen simbólica de la Península Ibérica en la Antigüedad

Resumen

RESUMEN: El autor analiza los mecanismos de creación simbólica de los antiguos en cuanto expresión de las relaciones entre la realidad y las estructuras sociales con que los hombres explotaron el territorio. Así, los símbolos que caracterizan la imagen del territorio hispano se gestan durante el desarrollo del mundo colonial, representados sobre todo por la figura de Hércules, y van integrándose progresivamente en formas de pensamiento tendentes a la racionalidad. De tal forma, sin abandonar sus aspectos fantásticos, van configurando imágenes nuevas que contribuirán a la formación del marco ideológico del imperialismo y actuarán en adelante como instrumentos de control en los procesos de cambio hacia la nueva sociedad medieval. ABSTRACT: D. Plácido analyses the process of symbolic creation of ancients inasmuch as it expresses the relation between reality and social structure used by men to exploit the territory. Thus the symbols that typify the image of the Hispanic territory, represented particularly by the image of Hercules, originated during the colonial world but gradually were integrated in forms of a rational thought. Therefore, while keeping its fantastic aspects, there were configurating new images that will contribute to the formation of the ideological frame of imperialism and will act as a way of control in the process of change to the new medieval society.em>
